Our wedding planners are so excited to introduce a future SOLARIS couple – Jake and Stephanie. After their fairytale romance story and engagement, Jake and Stephanie are planning a wedding in June 2018 aboard the SOLARIS yacht venue in Sandestin.
Story of Stephanie and Jake
Stephanie and Jake met in the summer of 2011 when they were 15 years old. They played on the same USTA Junior Tennis Team in Oklahoma City. After many practices and tournaments, they were becoming friends quickly!
On July 27, 2011, Jake and Stephanie started dating after an Icee Date at Falls Creek Baptist Youth Camp. They continued dating all through high school. Jake played basketball and tennis. Stephanie was a dancer and played tennis. They were each other’s biggest fans in every activity!
Stephanie graduated high school in 2013. In the Fall of 2013, Stephanie went to the University of Oklahoma and Jake started his Senior year of high school. In the Fall of 2014, Stephanie was still at OU and Jake started college at Hillsdale Baptist College and played basketball.
For these two years, they continued dating and supported each other in everything they did. In the Fall of 2015, Jake transferred to the University of Oklahoma. Stephanie and Jake continued dating through college. In July of 2016, they decided to get a puppy. Daisy Rae became a part of their new little family! In the summer of 2017, on their 6 year anniversary date, Jake proposed and the engagement began! Stephanie and Jake will both graduate from the University of Oklahoma in May of 2018!
The Proposal
On Sunday August 6th, Jake took Stephanie out on a date to celebrate their 6 year anniversary. They went to dinner at Outback Steakhouse for a steak and Bloomin’ Onion. After dinner, they debated about what else to do to celebrate the day. Stephanie couldn’t come up with anything to do so Jake said he would come up with something and surprise her. He handed her a cloth napkin and blind-folded her. They drove around for a while with her blind-folded.
After a while, Jake parked and helped Stephanie out of the truck. He held her hand and started walking. After a minute of walking, he asked, “Stephanie, do you know why we aren’t engaged yet?” She answered, “Nope!” He said, “Because we haven’t done this.” At this point, Jake kissed Stephanie. He then took off her blind fold and let her look around. They were standing in the middle of the Spoon Holder monument on the University of Oklahoma campus. The legend of the Spoon Holder is that any couple that kisses in the Spoon Holder is destined to get married. He then knelt down on one knee and asked her if she would marry him. She, of course, said yes! They then returned home to an engagement party with their families!
Congrats again to this amazing couple – our wedding planners can’t wait for your summer wedding on the SOLARIS yacht in Sandestin.
